Forage Kitchen | Oakland
Forage Kitchen, Oakland’s co-working space for food, is located in the heart of the booming Uptown neighborhood. Owners Iso Rabins and Matt Johansen are restaurant industry veterans who know how hard it is to start a food business, so they’ve made it a little easier by building a really great kitchen that budding food entrepreneurs can share. We were delighted to be part of creating what Matt and Iso described as “the best kitchen we’ve ever worked in”.
Listen to Iso describe the project and working with the RECO team:
John Solomon was the general contractor on this project, and he worked closely with the architect and structural engineer to design the Kitchen and adjoining office space, where John now has his office. They preserved the building’s outer shell and built a completely new wood-framed building within the brick structure. Everything is new, including the insulation, sprinkler systems and extensive electrical work.
RECO worked closely with the structural engineer and architect to meet Title 24 requirements. We completely rewired the entire structure, installing control systems, refrigeration, sophisticated lighting and the extensive mechanical ventilation that had to meet the demands of an industrial commercial kitchen.
